The patient, T.T., a 68-year-old woman, presented for treatment of unilateral distal edentulism in the first quadrant. The treatment plan called for the placement of two implants in combination with a maxillary sinus lift with a lateral window and fine-needle aspiration of a pseudocyst located within the maxillary sinus.
The first surgical phase involved performing a lateral window maxillary sinus lift and, simultaneously, aspirating the pseudocyst with a fine-gauge needle, as the pseudocyst would otherwise have prevented the Schneiderian membrane from being lifted. After completing the bone graft, the bone window was repositioned over the antrostomy, and a pair of implants from the “C” and “K” series were inserted. During the second-stage procedure, soft tissue conditions were optimized using a 3D collagen matrix graft. The 5-year follow-up images confirm a satisfactory outcome and the maintenance of peri-implant bone levels.
